Connected Play for 0-5 yrs - Offered on Tuesdays 10:30-12
Our Connect & Play Group is a time and space in the week to allow parents and caregivers to come and connect with their children. Explore, learn and play in a space created by an Occupational Therapist and Mother of three who is passionate about genuine and meaningful connection in a busy world. This group is facilitated by a mix of Allied Health Practitioners, Allied Health Assistants, Early Childhood Educators and Mentors.
Enjoy a range of activities week-to-week including our gross motor & soft play space with ball pit, dress-ups and pretend play, stories, songs and games, arts and crafts and more! All play is integral for development and is a great opportunity for connection and building social literacy, and we strive to ensure that this is offered in a safe and neuro-affirming environment. All are welcome!
Join a quest for capacity building with our Dungeons & Dragons groups. Facilitated by an Occupational Therapist and Mentor, this group combines everyday skill building and expansion of social literacy skills through engaging and cooperative storytelling experience. No two groups are alike, no journey akin to another. Participants decide as a group where their adventure will take them. Interact with a world brimming with life, that is created and augmented with props and our animated mentor Jacob (Dungeon Master), a safe space to take risks, make mistakes and to discover a sense of self through your own customised character.
Session settings will be varied based on group experience and preference, and will be discussed in an initial session. Alongside this, participants will develop characters and meet fellow group members. The group rules will be established and the fun of customisation and building a game character and kit will commence! To assist with building a sense of self, characters will be created by the players in a 3D modeling app alongside our team who are on-hand to help, and then 3D printed ready for a paint session in week 2.
Our games will begin at 3rd level. Experience is not at all necessary, some math skills will be useful as dice are rolled for most everything within the D&D universe, but our team is more than happy to help with any rolls, math or questions!
Build skills in sense of self, executive functioning, cognition and learning, emotional regulation, fine and gross motor and more! All whilst in a safe, neuro-affirming, welcoming group!
Sessions are run over a Term. Intake for Term 3 currently open!
