At Fuller Life Therapy Services, our Occupational Therapy (OT) services are client-centred, evidence-based, and personalised. We prioritise being an integral part of the client's support team, fostering communication and connection with the client and their family or supports to build skills and increase capacity.
From the outset, our services follow an individualised approach informed by the client and their support network. Our OTs collaborate with the client, their informal and formal supports, and other stakeholders such as schools and treating professionals. This collaborative effort aims to problem solve, advocate, and support the client both during and between sessions, within our clinic and in external environments.
We believe that clients are the experts of their journey and should have choice and control over their therapy. We encourage informed and collaborative goal-setting, focusing on outcomes that are meaningful to the client and aligned with their NDIS goals.
Recognising that therapy occupies only a small portion of the client's week, our OTs strive to educate and upskill clients and their supports. We use approaches and resources that are transferable and generalisable to the client's other settings whenever possible.
Our OT services are based on an evidence-based and strengths-based approach, emphasising the development of a fundamental sense of self and essential skills. This approach aims to enhance everyday skills and engagement in daily tasks and settings.
Our valuable and dedicated OT's conduct work for you as a client both directly (face-to-face) and indirectly (non-face-to-face) to ensure the best outcomes and support and compliance with NDIS). The time spent within a session is not the only thing OT's do to support you. Other indirect billable services may include:
This does not include back-of-house general administrative tasks that are specific to the company but not the client (processing your initial referral to us, getting initial paperwork completed, booking an appointment). In the case of groups, this time is already factored into and included in the group fee.
Occupational Therapists have access to a range of assessments that they may undertake. Which ones are relevant to you will be determined based on a clinical judgement made after getting to know you and understanding your current needs. These assessments (formal and informal) are designed to inform therapeutic approaches and goals.
Reports can be provided for such assessments as required. However, clinicians will include these outcomes within your NDIS progress report as relevant also.
Assessments can include:
A functional capacity assessment (FCA) is utilised to capture an individual's ability to carry out everyday activities at home, work/school, and in the community.
A functional assessment aims to assess various aspects of the daily life of an individual diagnosed with a medical condition or disability; then identify the individual's specific needs and goals, and to determine how they can supported to maintain or increase independence in daily life and engagement in community life.
Due to the varying complexities and personal aspects of each client, these assessments and reports may vary in length, time, assessments utilised, evidence cited etc. For this reason, it is very difficult to quote exactly how many hours this may take.
The process of an FCA for an OT includes tasks such as:
Fuller Life Therapy Services also offers Telehealth in addition to mobile (schools, work, home, or community-based) and clinic-based services, when appropriate.
This option allows for clients who are unable to attend the clinic for specific reasons (illness, remote location etc.) to still access services online.
Telehealth is also utilised for meetings with schools, workplaces or other providers where appropriate.
At Fuller Life Therapy Services Parent-only sessions both in a 1:1 and group format are encouraged to extend the knowledge and skill sets around supporting their child (our client). We use a collaborative approach with personalised coaching that allows for support to be aimed at the right level in a client-centred and focused way. Parents are guided to identify challenges, lagging skills and behaviours, share their own thoughts and feelings around this, and then supported to problem solve and implement effective solutions and strategies for their family.
Groups are a safe space for families to share or listen to others and gain knowledge in a less intensive relaxed setting.
